Stuck indoors? Got you covered! Skype,Zoom and Face-time lessons available.
I teach rock, blues, metal, country and classical guitar lessons on electric and acoustic guitars. Beginner students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading, and theory. I balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson challenges you with a new technical or theory concept, but always ends with something fun such as your favorite riff or song. I use a variety of guitar method books to accomplish this and encourage students to bring CDs or their iPod to their lesson to learn their favorite tunes. I can even help you with guitar repair, such as the set up of your guitar or replacing your strings! Guitar set-up and maintenance is also available! ( 1/2 and 3/4 sizes available, depending on the student's size)

Together, we will develop a plan to achieve your goals! Because I love beginners, I can help you even when you don't know what you want or where to begin!
WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC CAN I LEARN?
I teach all styles from rock, pop, jazz, country, worship, blues and classical. I combine the important fundamentals with the music YOU want to play. With my expertise, we can find music that is the best match for YOU.
ARE YOU QUALIFIED?
Yes. I am highly qualified with 22 years of teaching experience, and most importantly, I have a passion for teaching. I was into music as early as age 7, starting with piano, then moving on to flute, saxophone, and bassoon. At the age of 12, guitar became my primary instrument. I also studied music and guitar at V.C.U. I have played and performed as a soloist performer, scored for both film and live performances, toured with local and regional acts, and have jammed many times with Carter Beauford and many others.
I am one of the top teachers in Herndon, and I embody the high values of Herndon Guitar Lesson. I strive to relate my teaching to each individual student's learning style. In addition to my teaching credentials, I have a warm personality, am extremely friendly, and work at getting to know each student and their parent on a personal level. I consider it a great privilege and honor to work with your student and be a part of their musical journey! I work hard at being the best teacher in Herndon, so you can always know you're child is getting the best lessons possible.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN AN INSTRUMENT?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice, a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of my students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
I DON’T HAVE ANY MUSICAL BACKGROUND OR ABILITY. CAN I STILL HELP MY CHILD PRACTICE?
Yes. Even if you don't have a musical background you can ask me for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child's music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be positioning their hands.
